Answer: Kim is 16 and Alan is 20

Kim is 4/5 as old as Alan  =>  [tex]x=\frac{4}{5}y[/tex]

In four years, she will be 5/6 as old as he will be => [tex]x+4=\frac{5}{6}(y+4)[/tex]

Solving the system we obtain x=16 and y=20
