According to the text: "This was at a time when few women worked outside the home, and none could vote." How might womens’ contributions to the war effort advanced the argument for women’s equality?
When men got sent to war , women had to take over their jobs . This included police officers , nurses/doctors , pilots, engineers and much more jobs . A significant job that may have proved women should have the equal vote was women who worked in munition factories . They were known as canaries (bright yellow birds) because of the chemicals around them , they were exposed and as a result it turned their skin, hair and nails bright yellow . This could lower life expectancy and prevent women from having children . This showed women were equal to men .
