Jen wants to tile the floor of her kitchen. The floor is rectangular and measures 12 feet by 8 feet. If it costs $2.50 per square foot for the materials, what is the total cost of the materials for tiling the kitchen floor?

Draw a picture, one side is 12feet and the other is 8feet. $2.50/sq foot. 

l*w=a
8*12=a
a=96

96square feet is the kitchen floor size.

2.50=price per foot squared

96*2.50=$240
