In some states, if you are purposely voting or promoting a candidate for unjust or absurd reasons, like wanting them to declare World War III, or anything that is against the Amendments, or even putting hate or demotions towards other candidates to greaten the chances of that candidate being elected, their vote is disqualified or not counted for and sometimes they could face several years in jail depending on which state. Most states don't allow individuals in prison or previously in prison in belief that they will vote for a bad president on purpose in hopes of increasing crime rates.
