1. Melissa bought a new car with 12 optional features to the car. Each optional feature costs either $23.99 or $120.84. If she paid $675.28 for all the optional features, how many of each type did she buy? Write and solve an equation to solve this problem. Show all your work.

Let x be the number of 1st option, then the number of 2nd option
becomes 12-x:

Amount paid:

(23.99).x + 120.84(12-x) = 675.28
23.99.x  + 1450.08 - 120.84.x = 675.28

- 96.85,x = 675.28 - 1450.08
-96.85.x = - 774.8
96.85.x = 774.8
x = 774.7/90.94 → x = 8 (1st option) and 4 (2nd oprion)
