To me I would say this article is talking about life in spain. It talks about how not all African Americans were enslaved, how some African Americans had been emancipated by their slave holders, how many lived in friendship with native Americans in the eastern foothills of the Appalachian mountains, aLos how the native Americans suffered from the ecomienda system. All of this is talking about the life there and what it was like.
